A little long and drawn out, biggest impression was that it was a rip off of the movie Beaches from 1988. Venue and setting different but otherwise same with same out come

A fun trip down memory lane, this is a book about women, friendship, family, love, and relationships of every description. I found the story a bit repetitive and it dragged in a few places but overall an enjoyable read. Recommended.

A story of enduring friendship between two women. They meet when twelve and despite some arguments maintain their friendship. I read this after watching the series to see what the contrast was. It was close and the series certainly…

This book was better then the TV show. More in depth personalities and deeper story line. A tear jerker!

I don't usually enjoy books read after I have watched the TV show/movie they are made from but this is most definitely an exception. Even with the difference from the show this book is absolutely amazing. Kristin Hannah continues to amaze…

Another beautifully written Kristin Hannah book. I loved the characters and their relationships with one another. I loved the strong female characters. I think this book was well written although I did read it after finishing the Netflix…

This book had some nice moments, but was far too long for my preference - could have used some editing. Typical BFF story line - did not stand out for me. Kristi & Abby Tabby

** spoiler alert ** I hate to say it but I nearly DNF'd this book, and I don't DNF books. I wanted so badly to like this book because I love Hannah's newer books (eg The Nightingale), but this book wasn't for me at all. The writing was…

Especially fun if you grew up in the 70s.

Well written and definitely a page turner. The characters were predictable, but the plot was not. Haven't seen the TV series, just read the book. What a fantastic author!

Although the writing was a little melodramatic and cheesy, I can see how this is kind of a classic story. I watched the first episode of the Netflix series and it is definitely different from the book. I enjoyed the book, though. Very sad,…

Light chick lit kind of book with just a couple sections that dragged a bit. Heartbreaking ending. Generally well written. Really enjoyed the character development of both Kate & Tully and even Johnny. Trigger warning: Kristin Hannah…

I actually cried when I reached the end. It brought back memories of the late 60"s and 70's. Great!! Read!!

Overall a good book. My wife and daughter were surprised I was even reading the book because it is geared towards women, but whatever, if a book is well written, well-constructed and engaging, then it's a good book to read. I felt the…

Rounding up from 4.5 for this tale of a decades-long friendship between two women. I loved that it started in the 70's and the use of music to frame each decade. Is it the hippocampus that stores those music cues? I forget. Whatever part…

Kristen Hannah is one of my favorite authors. This was a good read. The Netflix series doesn't do the book justice, though.

This is one of the best books I have read. If you grew up in the 70s in the Pacific NW you will find the details are incredible. For women the details of a life from when you where born to 2003 this book will take you on a journey of…

Thanks to Book Club Cookbook and St. Martin's Griffin for a gifted copy. All comments and opinions are my own. This was my first Kristin Hannah novel. It took me a little over 170 pages before I actually wanted to keep reading instead…

This is not one of Hannah's better books. It is at its heart, an overly sentimental soap opera.

So good! Story of girls friendship that spans 30 Yrs, from age 14. A real page-turner!

I like to read the book before the movie. Hannah incorporated personal experience into her story of two friends growing up with parents of different styles, their challenges, loves, and search for personal identity. I was drawn to the main…

If you watched Netflix and haven't read the book read the book. If you haven't watched Netflix do both! Both were raw, beautiful and emotional tales of friendships and families. Both start the same but take different turns which end…
