This is not your standard sex book. Sex therapist, sociologist, and Psychology Today contributor Dr. Marty Klein goes beyond the sex manuals to reveal how our mindsets during sex are more important than any tricks or techniques--and that the way to a healthier, more exciting, more fulfilling sex life lies in first developing our sexual intelligence. This book is the antidote to the many gimmick-oriented sex guides and manuals; Dr. Klein shows us how to reorient how we think about sex in order to experience a truly different way of being sexual.

"Marty Klein is the Steve Jobs of sex advice. . . . Sexual Intelligence is a work of enormous wisdom and expansiveness, and will inspire readers, regardless of age, to realize their full sexual potential." --Ian Kerner, best-selling author of She Comes First

I found this book to be the most sensible, down-to-earth, realistic and healthy discussion of sexuality I have ever read. The author is clearly a true professional and not just a pseudo-professional like so many other authors of books of this nature. And he has a nice sense of humor about the whole subject. I found myself laughing frequently as he described his clients' experience as well as his summations of various aspects of the human experience.

Klein draws on his decades of experience as a sex therapist and illustrates his points with stories drawn from his clients (with names changed of course).

I have read a couple of other of Dr. Klein's books which I also enjoyed though I didn't find them quite as wonderful as this one.

If you read only one book on sexuality in your lifetime, this should be it.

Dr. Klein also publishes an email newsletter that carries stories of his experience in giving talks about sexuality around the world as well as news-worthy events in the U.S. and abroad as they relate to our culture's treatment of human sexuality. I subscribe to this newsletter and find the stories useful and interesting.

The information in this book really changed how I view the world. Sex is about fun (and being safe while doing it), and not about performance anxiety. It gets a lot deeper than that, and probably most people would benefit from reading this book. Sometimes he speaks to an older audience, but information is valuable to young adult readers too.
