Add a CommentAn outstanding movie about recovery. When the wife (Meg Ryan) hits bottom and seeks treatment for her alcoholism, her husband (Andy Garcia) enters a learning process about the disease and himself.
One thing that makes this movie interesting is the fact that he stayed with his wife.
In real life, women are more aptt to stay in a relationship with an alcoholic man where men are less likely to stay with an alcoholic wife.
Very sad story about a couple madly in love whose relationship begins to crumble as it comes to light that the wife has a serious drinking problem and needs to get help. Most heartbreaking for me was the instability and turbulence felt by their two young daughters. Will love conquer all? Or are some things just insurmountable? For those who have witnessed alcohol dependence through a loved one or personally, or for those who enjoy a tearjerker that pulls on the heartstrings, this is the film for you. I recommend it for Andy Garcia's performance.
