Police officers shot

Detective Michael Bennett arrests an infamous Mexican crime lord in a deadly chase that leaves Bennett's lifelong friend Hughie McDonough dead. From jail, the prisoner vows to rain epic violence down upon New York City-and to get revenge on Michael Bennett.

Judges murdered

To escape the chaos, Bennett takes his ten kids and their beautiful nanny, Mary Catherine, on a much-needed vacation to his family's cabin near Newburgh, New York. But instead of the calm and happy town he remembers from growing up, they step into a nightmare worse than they could have ever imagined. Newburgh is an inferno of warring gangs, and there's little the police-or Bennett-can do to keep the children safe.

Target: Michael Bennett

As violence overwhelms the state, Bennett is torn between protecting his hometown and saving New York City. A partner in his investigations, federal prosecutor Tara McLellan, brings him new weapons for the battle-and an attraction that endangers his relationship with Mary Catherine. A no-holds-barred, pedal-to-the-floor, action-packed novel, I, Michael Bennett is James Patterson at his most personal and most thrilling best.

Worst crime thriller book I have ever read. Full of cliche characters. The villain is so impressed with Bennett that he makes an outlandish offer. The beautiful hitwoman is a cartoon. I kept looking to see "Am I reading something not aimed at adults? Is this for young adults?" I kept rereading the reviews. What are these entities and websites? Later on, I began to imagine a bad Liam Neeson or Nic Cage movie: no more than 2 weeks in the theatre (100 seater in week 2). I didn't care whether the story continued or not. I just wanted the book to be over

I hope Patterson and Ledwidge work on this Bennett character because they are turning him into a cartoon detective. Okay plot and good supporting characters.

Really great book. I'm a Patterson fan all the way and this is one of his better works. But I do have to say that the best Patterson series that I have read is The Women's Murder Club series.

I prefer the Michael Bennett series over the Alex Cross series. I have read every single book Mr. Patterson has written. This title was pretty good and thrilling.

The whole Michael Bennett series is BORING, tried one a few years ago and didn't finish it...thought I would try again with "I Michael Bennett"...I am over half way through it and I am giving up. I am disappointed in James Patterson because I love the Cross books and have read them all. Maybe it's his co-writer???

A real cliff hanger, one of Patterson
and Ledwidge better works.

I have read almost everything James P. has written, and have been really entertained with all of them. This one had me on the edge of my seat in a couple of chapters and the end made me laugh. Have you ever seen him on his commercials? He has a great deadpan sense of humor and that is exactly the way I took the ending. I can see him smiling as he leaves us hanging out to dry at the end! Good, I say! That assures us more of Michael Bennett, who is a good, self-effacing guy trying to do his best to cover all his bases, just like the rest of us.

Not bad, until you get to the end. I kept turning the pages thinking that it couldn't possibly just end .....like that. You feel really set-up.
