Once There Was a Bull...(frog) is a clever and entertaining way of playing with compound words, great for early literacy and just plain entertainment. Each page ends with a suspenseful and misleading word and image. Then turn the page and--surprise! It wasn't really a hedge, it's a hedgehog. Grass is actually...grasshopper. Straw turns out to be...strawberries! A great read-aloud for preschoolers and early elementary school, and perhaps English Language Learners in grades 1-3.
