A new stand-alone thriller by an acclaimed master of the genre and author of the Nameless Detective series. In Echo Park, in the small town of Santa Rita, California, the mutilated body of Martin Torrey is found by two passersby. Police chief Griffin Kells and detective Robert Ortiz are under increasing pressure from the public and from a mayor demanding results in a case that has no easy solution. Pronzini cleverly unfolds the case through alternating perspectives until a surprising break leads to a completely unexpected conclusion.

Agreed. The unconventional style of telling the story leads to some confusion; now who is this character now speaking? But the plot satisfies at the end.

I've read most of Pronzini's books and this by far the worst. The stylistic convention of telling the story from multiple (way too many) viewpoints is clumsy and ultimately banal. The amount of simplistic exposition in every chapter is a chore to muddle through. The book is short however, so the time wasted reading it was minimal.
