Harry Styles has flown from the One Direction coop and has proven he is more than capable of standing out on his own. This album is fueled by funky, seventies vibes with modern influences. It's GOOD, not "in spite of" being from that guy in that boy band with the good hair - it is just really, really good. "Carolina" is my personal favorite, but each of the songs have their own strength. Overall an excellent start to Styles's new independent music career. Regardless of your feelings about 1D, you should pick this up!
Harry Styles is the first studio album written and produced by Harry Styles since taking a break from famed pop band, One Direction. I have been a fan of Harry ever since One Direction had been formed back in 2010. The release of this album had been a dream come true. I had high expectations for the tracks on this album, and I feel like Styles’ blew it out of the park with his self titled album. The tracks range from pop/contemporary, to almost a slight alternative feel. I find that throughout this album, he showed the growth he has had since the beginning of his music career. I’m not a huge fan of slow songs, and although many of the songs throughout this album are slower, I found myself loving every track. Even if you are not a fan of pop, I recommend you give this album a try. I would give this album 5/5.

Harry Styles’s self-titled album- released earlier this year- in my opinion, is nothing less than true artistry. Each track flows very well with the overall theme of the album, which is sort of like pursuing a new beginning, reflecting on your life, and growing from experiences. The album is clean and fresh. The lyrics are moving, and the vocals are powerful, which makes for an incredible duo. Some tracks that I specifically enjoyed were Kiwi (an angsty rock-like song), Only Angel (a heavenly, also rock-like song), and Sweet Creature (a slower song that talks about a girl who he is in love with). Each track is meaningful in a different way and the entire album is an album that anyone can listen to and enjoy in one way or another. This album represents a new beginning for the artist, as Harry Styles falls away from his boy band past and looks towards a future with music like this- music that represents love and life. The hit from this album, Sign of the Times, is an emotional, slow song that sort of sets the mood for the album. Although there are faster tracks here and there, the majority of the album is slower and more deep emotionally, which the artist has expressed that that was what he wished to achieve with this music, and he did it well. I would rate this album a 4.5/5.

I have been a fan of One Direction ever since they became a band and since they are on a hiatus I was looking forward to their solo albums. Harry has always been my favourite member because he is very talented. When I found out he was going to be making his first album on his own I was very excited to see what was in store. His debut album named after himself came out on May 12 2017. His very first single of the album Sign of the Times surprised me because it was really different from his One Direction days. It is a great song. I really enjoyed the whole album and the approach he took. Some of my favourite songs off the album are Kiwi Carolina and Ever Since New York. This album is great and I really enjoyed it. I rate it a 5 out of 5.
