When Artemis Fowl's mother contracts a life-threatening illness, his world is turned upside down. The only hope for a cure lies in the brain fluid of the silky sifaka lemur. Unfortunately, the animal is extinct due to a heartless bargain Artemis himself made as a younger boy. Though the odds are stacked against him, Artemis is not willing to give up. With the help of his fairy friends, the young genius travels back in time to save the lemur and bring it back to the present.

The story didn't feel as solid this time around for Artemis. I really enjoy the crazy places the stories can go, but this one felt dragged out and the conclusion wasn't as satisfying as the prior books. There was also several typos throughout the book so lazy editing editor. All in all the book felt like the time paradox mentioned in the story, unnecessary and should have been avoided in the first place. I will be reading the next one with hope of improvement!!

I really enjoyed reading the first book and immediately went out to get the rest of the series from the library. The seventh book, called the Atlantis Complex, is by far my favorite. This series has made my top ten favorite book series list, I recommend it to all bookworms looking for a good time. Other series I would recommend are Keeper of the Lost Cities and Adventurers Wanted.

a fun book for oldish children (middle school?) and adults alike. adventure, high tech, fairies...with a tinge of melancholy (arch villains are not beget from happy childhoods spent with warm and loving families)

To be honest, the book can be best described as a novelty. Being a veteran of the series, but also an avid reader in general, I can honestly say that the Fowl books are rather disappointing in retrospect, and I urge them only to be read under the most dire of circumstances, in which no other suitable material presents itself. Otherwise, there are much better things for you to be spending your time with.

Started this series in 4th grade. Forgot about it, then saw it again 3 years later and started reading it again. Love Artemis fowl. Be prepared to read the rest of the series when you check this one out.

The book was witty and interesting like all Artemis Fowl books, but it's not the best book in the series.

I think that the book was really funny, with all that stuff between "Loafers" and Mulch, but however there is not the suspense shown in the second book and first.

Coarse Language: just a little bit of swearing, and some of it is in the language of the fairies.

Other: some intense crude humor. Parts of it I don't mind, but others.... it would be way better without that stuff.
