No film better portrays the powerful emotions of hope, courage, and friendship. When his younger brother adopts a frisky lop-eared stray, 15-year-old Travis (Tommy Kirk), acting "man-of-the-house," tries to shoo him away. But Old Yeller soon proves he is anything but "yellow" when he protects the family farm and saves Travis' life.

A true classic in both books and film history, Old Yeller is by far one of my favorite stories I’ve ever had the joy of experiencing. The plot is long and entertaining and the entire concept of the film and book is amazing, it's a film which the entire family can enjoy, except for the more depressing parts which managed to make me feel for the characters. This isn’t just some pictures on a screen, oh no. Old Yeller is a movie which makes you feel for everyone there, it's a movie which makes you understand and feel like few others can. This is a film I’ve watched again and again and have yet to grown tired off. For these reasons alone, I greatly recommend this Movie or even the book to anyone and everyone for this is a story which will touch your heart. - @Kuhaica of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

The good old days of Disney's films.

I tried. I recall it fondly from seeing it as a kid but is so dated that I couldn't get past the overacting after 15 minutes of watching. I tried for about another 5 minutes and gave up. I fast forwarded to the end...you know, to the "sad bit." Oh my stars it was brutal, I felt it pulling ever-so-much more on my time strings than my heart strings...it's crap.
