It should be noted that this movie is both violent and shocking, but not necessarily "shockingly violent". When you watch a Korean action movie, you should expect a high level of violence for most. (If you don't hear some bones snap at least twice, it must be a very short film.) As with many action films theses days, by the time you get to the final "battle scene", you're pretty numbed to it, and it starts to look more like a bloody choreographed dance than a fight scene.
The shock is in the exploitation referenced and, to some extent, depicted in the film. This isn't the first Korean film by a long shot to talk about human trafficking, and they're not the first to mention organ harvesting, but this is the first to make such graphic reference to it- and it doesn't pull any punches. When the hardened main characters' faces drop in horror, brace yourself. Also, as much as you might turn away from the violence on screen- it *is* a lot- there's a heart-breaking scene toward the end that will make you cringe because you know how bad the follow up's going to be.
Having said that, this was still an affecting film; the chemistry between the lost adult in the pawnshop and the emotionally abandoned little girl drives the film to the end. Know that if you're expecting a traditional happy ending you're going to be disappointed, but the ending does make sense given the main characters
Master level violence.
Won Bin and Kim Sae-ron rock! ! ! !
Warning: violence. But it was not waste of time for watching.
This foreign film is by far my favorite. The plot was well written, the cinematography was off the charts crazy good, and the action was well choreographed. The movie is in the Korean and it takes some time to build up to the really good action but it will keep you on the edge of your seat and you may shed some tears.
Good movie. Recommended. Script was well written.
Excellent action movie. Good fight scenes especially at the end. Spoiler: main character dies.*
Great action flick. Our hero (an ex-special forces dude) goes after the scum of S. Korea. These include perverts, drug traffickers, child enslavers, & human organ harvesters. Definately not for the kiddies as there is brief nudity & non-stop cussing.
Masterly fights alternate with breathtaking sentimentality. The direction and acting make this film better than it has a right to be.
Great Movie from both Wonbin and Kim Saeron!
This is the perfect date movie. First ,you have a slashy action thriller. On the other hand, you have a heartfelt tearjerker. There are many characters to track . Some of the actors doing the lesser parts were very good
