Not to seem redundant, but it is absolutely a beautiful story and we'll worth the watch.

I'll see any film with Tom Wilkerson. Apparently I didn't read the fine print as I had no clue what this was about. Fortunately for me it developed beautifully, had a significant moral to this tale. The gardening & knowledge of, made me envious. The food chatter made me so hungry...for a really good chef to prepare a meal.

Our whole family loved this movie. Fantastic acting and character development. Heartwarming with a bit of bittersweet. Inspires a love of gardening and highlights the importance of interconnections with friends. Brings to light the challenges of living with OCD. One of the better movies I've ever seen. A little bit of rough language (particularly "bloody this and that"), but otherwise very comfortable having our kids watch this movie, which seems to be a rare occurrence these days. Enjoy! It isn't an action movie if your looking for that and it is a bit . . . . more of a "chick flick," but one I enjoyed immensely.

Love this! If you are a romantic, you will too. Whimsical, funny, sad, satisfying. No sex, no bad language. Tinge of possible autism/OCD (quirkiness) but not clarified.

A perfectly adequate film which does what it says on the box, though to me it all felt a little forced. The lead is quirky and independent but pretty, her love interest is scatterbrained and messy, the grouchy neighbour turns out to have a heart of gold, the helpful cleaner/cook has identical red-haired, gap-toothed daughters. Not a bad film by any stretch just a touch too contrived for me to really fall in love with it. I also feel that the very real struggles that people with OCD face were perhaps a bit trivialised? In any event, if you want a nice, gentle, heartwarming movie then this will fit the bill.

What a beautiful story. Everything about it was enchanting. Have watched it twice already and still finding nuances. The acting was superb - Tom Wilkinson, Anna Chancellor and Andrew Scott (nice to see him in a sympathetic role for a change) all added to the feel-good factor but the contemporary fairy-tale love story encompassing OCD issues, eccentricity, gardening & cookery themes all gelled perfectly. What a delightful way to spend a couple of hours.

what to say about a movie with no swearing, no nudity and no guns?!
I call it perfect entertainment!

First scenes, introduction of orphan Brown:
Bella Brown... Well, what can I say? There was nothing normal about the girl. It's a miracle she survived at all after her arrival in the world. They say she would have perished if it hadn't of been for the ducks. Sat on her like an egg, they did. Treated her as one of their own. She was finally discovered by one of those ancient lunatics who frequent the parks of our city and seem to enjoy hypothermia. She grew into the oddest of oddballs, terrified by the unpredictability of nature and flora, in particular. Where on earth that came from, I dread to think. She's always had a preoccupation with order that would have tried the patience of a saint, never mind the nuns at Saint Fedelma's. Bella Brown! It's an insular and solitary world for Miss Brown, just her and her books. Hers was a story just waiting to be told but the obsessive little world she created meant that this was one book that remained firmly shut.

Helianthus. Giant sunflower. Start off with them, they're incredibly beautiful.
They need a lot of light and heat. They follow the arc of the sun from dawn until dusk, extracting maximum energy from every day. It's a very... a very clever flower. Think about that.

I'm a dying man. Unlike you, I don't have long left. Time is my enemy. I mourn every minute. Every precious second marks my life draining away.
-That's dreadful, I had no idea.
I don't have much to give me comfort, no friend, no family, no one to love
I only have the beauty of nature and the promise of a hearty last meal.
In some countries, they hold parties when it starts to rain. But here, we just scurry around and run for cover. It's the most important currency in the world. and yet in our green and pleasant land, where we take so much for granted, we see it only as a means of ruining expensive hairdos and making taxi drivers rich.

This garden is taking forever.
-Everything that matters takes time. You can speed read but you can't speed garden.
Well, long ago, before the world was round, ...
Which one's Sid?
-The scruffy one.
Well, I bet he was a looker in his day.
I bet even Arthur would have been daunted by this garden.
-No, he would have relished it. A totally blank canvas, a chance to create your own masterpiece.
How do we make a garden? How do we build a color palette? How do we create depth and texture? How do we keep interest from April to October?
It's a world of beautifully ordered chaos. No, no, that's chaos, not calamity, Miss Brown. because if you don't understand the difference, we won't go very far.

Luna screamed to the traveler: "Why did you do that? I can't fly."
"Says who?" He replied.
"A true gardener can create more happiness propagating life in one seed
and seeing that single flower unfold, than a rich man could ever get from his perfect, rolling lawns."
As per my somewhat pedantic instructions, I assume that you are all in your garden, which I hope is looking as good as I expect.
Care to dance?
-Oh, don't be stupid!
You were a wonderful pupil and a dearly treasured friend. You helped me remember the good things.
