It was a very excellent film!

Agree with Monolith' s comment and her take of "great ending." Like to quantify the ending was cleverly "nice" as a crime fiction. Almost LOL with one of the dialogue, see "Quotes." The line was written over a decade ago!

Excellent movie one worth the time to watch.

Possibly Jodie Foster's best film.

I understand the premise for this movie, that when something tragic happens to you and someone else that you care about, that maybe you shut down on the inside and maybe have feelings for revenge, but this is the second movie that I have seen Jodie foster play the victum role and it is not one of her strong points as an actress. I also understood Terrence Howard's role as the police detective that had compassion towards and for her, that made it the strong point of the movie.

One of the best and most chilling movies I've ever seen !

I've always admired and respected Jodie Foster, her performances as an actor, and the discretion in which she chooses them. This role did not disappoint me. She WAS Erica Bain. This story of revenge was reminiscent of Charles Bronson's "Death Wish", the 1984 'subway vigilante' Bernhard Goetz, but... it stood apart as well. Terrence Howard was terrific as usual. Great ending (in my opinion).

Jodie Foster gave an excellent performance in this film that is not entirely original and yet not entirely trite. Sure, vengeance plots have been played numerous times, but this movie had a different feel. The cinematography irked me at times, but it eventually grew on me. Plus, I am a huge fan of the work of Neil Jordan (The Crying Game, Breakfast on Pluto, and Ondine).

You see those pictures of the subway thing?
- Gross.
They shot another one last night. Some pervert. Who will they go for next, Donald Trump?
When you first go to a crime scene... what do you look for?
- Evidence.
Okay, such as?
- Murder weapon, entry wound... DNA samples, prints, carbon fragments... position of the corpse. It's amazing what a dead body can tell you.
So the dead do talk?
- Oh, yeah. Everybody talks. Now, most everybody lies. But the dead can't. And then again, the lies tell you things too, because... people tell them for a reason.
It is...astonishing... numbing, to find... that inside you there is a stranger. One that has your... arms... your legs... your eyes. A sleepless, restless stranger... who keeps walking... keeps eating... keeps... living. New York, like any metropolis... New York, like any metropolis, is an organism that changes, mutates. Building sprout-like chromosomes on the DNA of its streets.
