The ethics of time travel, humorous and/or unwanted engagements, and some really cool headdresses make this serial - only the sixth in the show's run - stand out. It's particularly interesting how Ian and Barbara are each very much out of their depths but simultaneously quite competent. Although I enjoyed the other surviving Season 1 historical story ("The Reign of Terror") more than this one, I can't deny that it's quite a solid 4 episodes. As always, the acting is good, though the fight scene at the end is not. But that's no deal-breaker in a story like this. As an extra bonus, this special edition contains a recently recovered episode from the missing first story of Season 3, "Galaxy 4".
These episodes were good. I liked how the doctor knew that events in time cannot change, that Barbara couldn't change history no matter how evil.

A much more stern and censorious Doctor to be sure. More meddling with history and I think it is the first time that the Doctor says that history cannot be rewritten.
