This is a 1955 biographical musical film directed by Curtis Bernhardt.
It tells the story of Australian opera singer Marjorie Lawrence's struggle with polio.
With all her dreams come true, tragedy strikes and she faces a life of confinement to a wheel chair.
Although she reaches the depths of despair, she manages through the love and devotion of her husband, Dr. Tom King, and begins to build a new career by singing to servicemen who, like herself, are confined to wheel chairs.
Eleanor Parker, however, acts over the top and over-emotionally, especially when she tries to turn off the phonograph, and right after she opens the package that is for her husband, Glenn Ford.
In any case, it is a moving and gripping film when the heroine overcomes her despair.
