This is a real and raw and gritty slice of life that probably many of us would like to pretend didn’t exist but it does. That’s what makes it deeply meaningful to watch. Every character is delicately developed and fully present. The performance of the late Gary Poulter, an actual homeless man who plays an alcoholic father, exudes a genuineness that is both superb and, at times, difficult to view.
