This movie hasn't aged as well as I expected it would, but it's still very good. It's a nice, light comedy. For me, all of the "But he's not Greek!" started to wear a little thin this time around. I'm glad I rewatched it prior to seeing My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, its creatively titled sequel. While I don't think 2's story is one that needed to be told, Nia Vardalos did a wonderful job of writing the characters' lives 14 years later. With the sequel, I appreciated the closeness of the family and how they had become much more tolerant, and I was impressed that everyone, even very minor characters, had returned for it. I recommend having some Greek food on hand if you are planning to watch either or both of these movies. You will be hungry for it.
