A moving meditation on loss and mourning. A quiet character study. A slice of life. Matt is trying to figure out how to move forward after the loss of his mother to cancer. High school no longer feels relevant and his Brooklyn neighborhood both grounds and nettles him. He stumbles into a job at a local funeral parlor, where he unexpectedly finds solace, a mentor, and a love interest. Gradually Matt works through his grief and figures out how to begin healing. Realistic, tangible, and nuanced, this vividly captures lived experience.
