I was so impressed with the visual scope of the film at first that it has literally taken me nearly a decade to develope an appreciation for the score, but Shore's work here really is outstanding. The hilight moment for me is probably the stirring crescendo when the camera pans back to reveal the subterranean city, or ethereal quality of the vocals when Gandalf is shown briefly in captivity, but many more of the motifs are memorable and function sublimely to frame the narrative, or for stand-alone listening. Enjoy!
