Avatar the Last Airbender is a wonderful comic. Despite the fact it is geared more towards kids, it touches upon many political issues. While reading this comic, I liked how the author introduced a character named Sokka. He added most of the comedic relief with his funny comments. When it comes to the female characters, I loved how they all had one thing in common, they were all strong and possessed other skills too. This is awesome because it throws the “damsel in distress” stereotype right out the window. The most significant thing I noticed was how much they valued their family and friends! I strongly believe that tweens and teens will enjoy reading this.@grumpykat of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library The promise is a continuation of the ATLA TV series and gives readers a look into the aftermath of the series and how the 4 nations are taking action to restore peace. I really enjoyed this comic because it fulfilled the suspense from the end of the TV series answering unanswered questions and more. It provided more information as to how the restoring of peace was done and the trials that came along with it ranging from personal and political voids that had to be dealt with. Personally the only thing that I disliked was sometimes the comic would appear boring to me and not as eventful as I would like it to be due to the fact that a lot of the action was covered in the TV series. My favourite part of the comic is definitely being able to see the whole team reunite again ready to make change to the world with all their different powers and strengths and to see the 4 nations work together through conflicts to gain peace. @tigercats04 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
