"The Art of Stillness"" by Pico Iyer is a TED book. A TED book is defined as a book long enough to explore a powerful idea but short enough to read in a single setting.Iyer's book is exactly that. I not only finished the book in one sitting but also wanted more.Following the lives of French scientist turned monk, Matthieu Ricard and Leonard Cohen, Iyer makes a strong case for meditation, stillness and going nowhere. The book was full of good advice but my favorite was, "Don't just do something, sit there."(Yes, without and exclamation point.)This is a book to own, read, and reread. The photographs at the end of each chapter are just astounding.
