a Kurt Wallander Mystery

Mankell depicts a very realistic picture of a totalitarian state where spying, denunciation, corruption and crime are everyday happenings and not just fictional facts to make a good detective story. Suspenseful, intense and thorough , this story takes the reader on the other side of the iron curtain , not an obsolete metaphor in this novel ! We see a very human side of Inspector Wallander, the main protagonist , who empathizes with the victims, risks his life to help and even make some mistakes along the way .
