Solo

a Star Wars Story
Nov 14, 2018
Solo: A Star Wars Story is based on the vast Star Wars Universe, this specific movie follows Han Solo and his beginning to become the most famous galactic smuggler. It tells the story of his first robbery, how he got his name, how he met his pal Chewbacca, his first love who betrayed him and how he got his famous ship the Millennium Falcon and made the Kessel run in 12 parsecs. I would strongly recommend this movie if you're a Star Wars fan, if not you might be a little lost on some of the information. @GoosReviews of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Solo A Star Wars Story is an independent movie in the Star Wars movie series. The movie is about the fan favourite character from the original trilogy, Han Solo, before he went on adventures with Luke and Leia. We get to see how he earned the Millennium Falcon and how he met his co-pilot Chewbacca. If you watched the original Star Wars trilogy and want to know more about Han Solo, I would recommend watching this movie. I believe that the plot is well written and how they brought characters together was interesting to watch. Although we know a little about, Lando and Han, seeing the beginning of their relationship is quite entertaining. The most fascinating part of the movie is meeting the characters that actually helped form Han Solo into the man that he is, and how he became such a famous space pirate. The movie is definitely suitable for people of all ages, making it a great family movie. However, unlike other Star Wars movies, there are no dramatic action scenes that leave you on the edge of your seat. I rate this movie four out of five stars. @Sapphirereads of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board This movie is the second in the Star Wars series. We find out the criminal beginnings of Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian. The movie plays out in a period just after the fall of the Republic. I personally enjoyed the fact that not all imperial soldiers are stormtroopers. Most Star Wars movies use stormtroopers almost as background set pieces. Where other movies would have a potted plant, Star Wars has a random stormtrooper. The plot could have used some work, but the movie was not boring or tedious. Not the best Star Wars movie that has been produced. Nevertheless , I still gave it a 5/5 because it had high quality CG animations, an underplayed villain, foreshadowing, and quality costumes. A great movie, as always, from Lucasfilm. @TheLastSarcasm of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board 3.5/5 stars. Solo: A Star Wars Story is a 2018 space western film set in Disneys now expansive Star Wars universe. It is the second anthology Star Wars film after Rouge One. Well not received well in the box office, or particularly favored by critics, I was surprised to find myself having an absolute blast while watching this movie. While this movie is fun, there are still many flaws littered throughout. The main issue comes from the entire premise of making a Han Solo movie. This character has been so beloved and choosing now to make a film centered around him is a gamble. To many, this could be seen as a perversion of such an awesome character, a quick (but failed) cash grab by the big studio Disney. While I don’t have such a cynical view of the motivations for making this movie, they did not do any justice to flushing out or developing the character of Han Solo any further. I would have much preferred to have the movie be centered around a new cast of characters. This would allow Disney to start to take the Star Wars franchise in new directions instead of simply relying on past canon. While a good movie, I feel it is a missed opportunity for Disney to exploit with their multibillion-dollar franchise. @Joaquin of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
