“My Dear Melancholy” is The Weeknd’s most recent EP that he has released. This EP is extremely raw and intimate on all levels. All the songs are mostly about love and the heartbreak that sometimes comes with it. Every song is very emotional and has a slow tempo which I really like as the whole EP can satisfy my craving for slower music when I am in the mood for it. The song I listen to the most is “Privilege”; I usually like listening to that song first when I put the EP on as I would say it’s the most emotional song on it and it puts me in the mood more. I 100% recommend anyone to listen to this album that likes slow R&B music that is about heartbreak. I rate “My Dear Melancholy” 4/5 stars. @Kyky18 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library This is the weeknds newest album, My Dear Melancholy. This album is very slow and down beat compared to his older music. This album is very emotional, and the lyrics are very deep. The albums lyrics are based a lot on the artists past relationships. Lyrics all have deep meanings and its really shows a different side of the artist. Although most of the artists music can be dark, it wasn’t like this one. This one had passion and it showed the way he was hurting from past relationships. This isn’t one of my favourite albums by him, but I would recommend it if you liked very slow and deep meaning music. Also, if you like alternative R&B I would recommend this artists music. 4/5 stars @effystonem of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library. This is a newer music album by The Weeknd. In My Dear Melancholy, The Weeknd takes a more emotional and low-sounding tone rather than an upbeat one. The overall mood in the album stays consistent, and this is a visible difference from the majority of the artist’s recent songs. The album contains six songs, and the lyrics focus mainly on The Weeknd’s relationships. Since this album has a consistent sound to it, and it does not have a variation in tone like some of The Weeknd’s other albums, those who are not big fans of downbeat and emotional songs may not enjoy My Dear Melancholy. However, the consistent sound creates a smooth flow and great transitioning in between the songs. Though I think the album is decent, I believe that this is not The Weeknd’s best work, and I would personally only hear this kind of music once in a while. This is why I would give the album 3.5 stars. @Riveting_Reviews of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library This is an extended play album that was recently released in March 2018 by Republic Records. I would definitely describe this artist as R&B alternative since he has a very soulful voice and beat with some more modern twists and sounds. My favourite songs off of this mini album are Call Out My Name, Wasted Times, and Privilege. In all of the songs on this album, you can really hear his emotion and pain going into the lyrics and his voice. I would rate this album 4.5/5 stars and recommend it to those who like emotional songs. @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
