this was not that great. the premises was sound, but then the main character Jane Boyle starts doing all kinda crazy things that no self respecting 24 year old would actually do. if you plan on reading this book the rest of my review is gonna be a long spoiler. Stop reading now. Ok first thing. so Jane just meets some dude and after a month she moves not across the city, but the world to be with him. She just uproots her whole life for some dude she just met. Not only does she move, but she decides to marry him too. Then she finds her dead granny and learns that she is a witch all in the same day. She has no idea her granny is dead though cause granny boyle lives in the B.F.E. of france with no phone. Jane never bothered to write, or even get granny a cell phone and put her on a family plan. This is the lady who raised Jane and she just chucked duces and was out, for YEARS. No wonder she found herself surrounded by evil witches who were willing to turn her into a brood mare, steal her powers, have her raped and then kill her once she had a girl baby. Some how dumb Jane manages to escape, but then she goes back inside to rescue the dude she thought she knew even after she found out he was the one who killed her grandma so he could have her power. Her fiance/husband (did i mention she married him) killed her granny and jane forgave him enough to go back and rescue him to spare him his fate. She blamed his actions on his mom..... NOPE!!!!!! you murder my granny and Ill forgive you...... At your funeral after I burn your house down with your whole family in it. There are two more books in this series too. I dont know if I can put up with dumb Jane and her antics though. I usually like paranormal books because the women in them are smart, plucky and resourceful. Jane Boyle reminds me of dumb ole Bella Swan. Psycho boyfriends are not the business. who are these women with no survival instinct? why are they so dumb? I hope jane gets eaten by a bear in the last book.
